2008 was the pilot year for our GPS monitoring work. By mid 2009, we had provided GPS units and digital cameras to all of our major country programs and are now collecting data on the locations of our nurseries and projects around the world.
This data is provided to the public in an effort to maintain transparency in our work. We want each of you too see firsthand the work that our members and donors make possible. Any member of the public can take this information and travel to project sites to verify what is being done. However, we would like to ask that you respect the privacy of our friends around the world. In many places it would be an insult to show up unannounced and ask to see project work. We ask that you contact us first before traveling to sites so that we can ensure there are no misunderstandings. Thank you in advance for complying with this request.
